PLACE OF ORIGIN OF THE ANCESTOR KERVOAC

Genealogical research carried out from 1978 revealed that Huelgoat in Brittany is the place of origin of the Ancestor of the Kirouac families. In his marriage certificate, the Ancestor declared that he was from Berrien (Bériel according to the entry made by the priest). And, Huelgoat was effectively a truce of this parish of Berrien in the 18th century.

On July 9, 2000, Mr. Robert Cleuziou, Mayor of Huelgoat, unveiled a commemorative plaque in honor of Urbain-François Le Bihan, Sieur de Kervoac. This ceremony, on the occasion of the passage of 32 members of the Association of Kirouac families making a trip back to their roots, followed the very recent discoveries about this son of one of the notaries of the time in Huelgoat.

The plaque was installed at the beginning of the tourist route of the place called Le Chaos located in the center of the village near the edge of the lake. It is made of blue granite from Brennelis, Brittany.
