Le Trésor des Kirouac

Discover the History of The Kirouacs

Through Our Digital Collection

Explore the rich past of the Kirouac families through its unique digital collection. It includes a selection of the information bulletins of the Kirouac Family Association, covering the period starting with issue number 80 in 2005, up to number 134 in Autumn 2020. The publications of the last five years are reserved for members of the Association.

These publications are a precious resource for anyone wanting to trace back the journey of family members whether they be prominent figures or ordinary individuals who led more discreet but quite noteworthy lives.

Please note that normally, save for very rare exceptions, the bulletins published in the past five years are exclusively reserved for KFA members.

This collection is the fruit of considerable work. The first 65 issues were meticulously prepared and mounted entirely by hand by Marie Kirouac. In December 2001, number 66, for the first time was entirely digitally mastered; from then on François Kirouac did the layout.

Publication Evolution

Our bulletin was transformed over time, were changed, the name and the format:

1983-1988: These first issues were published without a precise title.

December 1988 to December 1994: The bulletin adopts the name  Le Bris de Keroack.

March 1995 (number 39): A new change: the KFA members chose a new name inspired by a family legend and our bulletin became known as  Le Trésor des Kirouac; and came in a new size, from 17.6 cm x 21.6 cm to 21.3 cm x 27.9 cm. (7 X 8 ½ inches to 8 ¼ X 11 inches)

Scanning the collection: a team effort

Thanks to the generous collaboration of Michel Bornais and Pierre Kirouac (from Boucherville), it was possible to digitize the entire collection. They digitized numbers 0 to 65, thus completing our digital data. As number 66 onwards were already digitized they were easily integrated to the data.

Information Easily Accessible

To facilitate your search consult the meticulously prepared Index of Subjects. François indexed the first fifty issues then Céline Kirouac and Lucille Kirouac indexed the rest, nearly 100 issues.

Special Editions in English

A Special Edition (Hors-Série) of Le Trésor was added to the digital collection due to the size of the information or the importance of the subject. (see under tab: SPECIAL EDITION) (Sister Cécile’s story in English will be online this summer. Guy Kirouac of Warwick, later)
