Do you know the expression Kirouac les jouets ? Have you ever heard about Kirouac Toys?

One branch of the Kirouacs has been involved in commercial ventures in Quebec City since 1848. This adventure started with François Kirouac. At first, he opened a general retail store which he soon transformed into a grocery store then later he went into wholesale of flour and grains. Although this Kirouac branch was not the only one doing business in the Old Capital, it is the only one in business since 1848.

As for the Kirouac toys, it is Joseph-Arthur, one of François's son, who launched into that particular line of business in 1888. Therefore the Kirouac Family Association is proud to present the history of the family that had such an impact on the commerce of toys in Quebec City.

A first document, published in our association's bulletin, Le Trésor des Kirouac, in the spring of 2018, details the history of these Kirouacs merchants in Quebec City.

Finally, in a second document, you can read the Historical and genealogical guided tour of the Kirouac's Quebec City. This document enables you to visit the places where some of these Kirouacs lived and where their businesses were located.

Enjoy your visit !
